We really wanted to celebrate our wedding during winter time, in an intimate setting. As Kenneth proposed to me in Stockholm, we started our search in Sweden. By chance, we came across Lindeborgs Organic Farm and Retreat and immediately fell in love with this stunning place and with its lovely owners Julia and Carl. Both have a strong passion to create something unique and to inspire to innovative solutions that contribute to a healthier planet. They also went far and beyond to help us prepare for our wedding abroad, which was quite a challenge at times, from administrative hassles at the Swedish municipality to finding the perfect local caterer for our wedding cake and dinner.

Welcome to Lindeborgs farm
Far away from everyday life, but only a 15 minute drive from Skavsta airport and one hour from Stockholm. But most of all…close to nature, beyond sustainable and with a modern and natural design fitting the environment. And lucky us, it provided exactly enough space to house our 15 guests. At the center of the farm is the Eco Barn, a hundred year old barn renovated to perfection. It offers two Eco Suites (up to 4 people) and one double room (2 people) with large glass windows overlooking the nearby lake and forest. On a small hill at the forest edge lies a typical Swedish Red Cottage which can house another 5 guests. You wake up to the sound of sheep in the next door barn, and perhaps you will even spot a hare or deer when you open the curtains in the morning.
The vintage barn
In the middle of the sheep’s pasture next to the forest lies an old blacksmith’s barn with a true vintage feel. This was the perfect setting for our intimate wedding ceremony. We filled the barn with homemade decorations, lots of lit candles and soft blankets for our guests to stay warm during the ceremony. The result was simply magical. And if things could not be more perfect, on the morning of our wedding day, there was a fresh pack of snow…
Just married
The days after
There was also plenty to entertain our guests during the 3 nights we stayed at the farm. The kids could help feed the animals and enjoyed themselves in the snow, mostly by racing downhill with a sled. Others took to walks, with the farm having its “own” forest to explore. And for those who wanted to unwind or simply warm up after a long day in the cold, there is a sauna with a breathtaking view of the view of the lake, especially during sunset.
I was truly touched by this place, and cannot wait to return to breathe in some fresh air and enjoy the silence, except for the sound of squeaking birds and crackling wood in the fireplace…
